The Story of the Sea and Its Creator

 

Beauty and goodness, for true power lies in love and understanding


In a small village by the shore of a sea with crystal-clear waters, there lived an old artist. He had a rare talent: he could transform sand and water into the most beautiful marine sculptures. He spent his days sculpting fabulous creatures—shimmering fish, vibrant-colored starfish, and even mermaids that seemed to sing.


He dreamed of creating his grandest masterpiece: a mermaid that would bring happiness and prosperity to the village. After months of work, he finally succeeded in finishing the sculpture. It was splendid! A mermaid with long, wavy hair and a smile that seemed to light up the entire sea. The old man named her Marina.


However, with Marina's beauty, a fearful story was born. The old man, in his desire to impress the village, allowed the sea to warm, thus giving life and power to Marina. But the glory and positive reactions of the villagers were fleeting. Over time, Marina began to gain more independence, and the old man found it increasingly difficult to control her. Days passed, and the mermaid became an ever more authoritative presence in the lives of the people.


The villagers, initially enchanted by Marina's beauty, began to notice how she, using her power, forced them to bring her gifts and to obey the rules she imposed. They were subjugated by the creation of a man who was starting to feel smaller and weaker in the face of his own work.One evening, he decided it was time to reclaim his power. They were on the shore of the sea, under the moonlight, when he confronted Marina. "I created you, so I have the power to destroy you!" he said with a firm voice.


Marina turned, looking at him with an enigmatic smile. "Did you think that only you had the power to create? I am part of the sea that envelops your feet. You cannot kill me without destroying yourself."


The old man felt burdened by the truth of her words. In a moment of clarity, he realized that, regardless of Marina's power and resistance, he was the creator of that bond. So he decided to rectify the situation. Instead of destroying Marina, he used everything he knew about art to give her freedom.


He began to create other small and beautiful sculptures, which he gifted to the sea. Thus, Marina understood that she did not have to be a dictator, but should collaborate with the people, bringing them joy. Their bond transformed from a relationship of subordination into a harmonious friendship."
